Born and raised in Tiel, a city in the middle of the Netherlands. Actually, one of the first city's in this country, long before Amsterdam existed. In 869 Tiel earned Cityrights, Amsterdam took another 400 years to do the same (1300s).

As you can see I like to annoy my fellow classmates with some historic facts. ;-)

Further, about me.I have many interests, diversing from making art/design, music, film, concepts etc. In 1998 a attended a school for Graphic Design and I graduated in 2002.After a year of work I decided to take the next step: Interactive Media at the HVA. I like the wide variety of areas that are involved in this course. A challenge every time and it keeps being interesting that way.

For me, being able to be creative is one of the main things in life.Well, i guess thats basically it. If something new comes across my mind i'll update this.

Worst Public Place

Well, this is a tough one, 'cause Tiel is pretty perfect. I think I'll go with one of the main squares/places in the town, called "stadsplein"(citysquare). Ive seen it being rebuild and redesigned multiple times over the last 25 years . The last version doesn't really work for me.
It used to be a very open place in the centre, where there was enough room for special activities and entertainment, and a lot of people could sit there/ rest from shopping. There was a high platform, a stage so to say, in the middle of it to serve a lot of needs.
It had to go for a couple of couches, trees and a statue of our great, big leader "Flipje", which is way too small for such an honourous person. It's a shame!

Best Public Space

Ofcourse Tiel is one of the best build city's in the history of mankind ;-)
If i have to choose the best public space though, i would go for the city wall. Founded in the mideaval period, the city wall was there to protect the people living inside.
Its located right aside the river the Waal, which divides the Netherlands in 2 parts(northern and southern) .
On the city wall, you've got a great view over that river. The wall is a couple of metres above the ground. Its long, because its build around the old centre of Tiel. Towards the river there's a lot of green and a big parking space. On the citywall there are a couple of historic, nice architected houses.
Its a nice gathering space were all kinds of people sit and hang, all of the time. Because its high above the ground, pretty long but near the houses and the old centre, you've got the feeling it's an intimite place. It's actually pretty big. The place is restorated many times, so it looks pretty clean while being old. Add the sightseeing and youll have one of the best public spaces, in Tiel.
